Dawn News refuses to air Sadaqat Ali Abbasi’s interview after PTI leader returns home

Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sadaqat Ali Abbasi returned home on Friday, four months after he went missing.

The former MNA was seen crying while meeting his family members in a viral video.

Meanwhile, Dawn News refused to air Sadaqat Ali Abbasi’s interview conducted by anchor Adil Shahzeb.

While the private broadcaster did not give any reason behind it’s decision, multiple senior journalists said the move was aimed at dispelling the notion that the media is being used as a tool to change politicians’ loyalties.

The backlash Dunya TV received over Usman Dar’s tell-all interview also seems to have played a role in Dawn News decision.

What happened on DAWN TV in the name of confessional interview was the direct attack on freedom on expression. I feel sorry for the anchor but as DAWN kept its tradition of up holding the principles of journalism.
