Islamabad: Pakistan army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has been awarded a three-year extension in service by government.
A notification issued by Prime Minister Office on Monday said ” General Qamar Javed Bajwa is appointed Chief of Army Staff for another term of three years from the date of completion of current tenure. The decision has been taken in view of regional security environment,”.
General Bajwa succeeded General Raheel Sharif in November 2016 when he was appointed as chief of army staff by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
