Lt. General Ishfaq Nadeem dies of heart attack
Islamabad: Lieutenant General (retd) Ishfaq Nadeem died of a heart attack on Friday. Regarded as the mastermind of Operation Zarb-e-Azb, he was the course mate of General Qamar Javed Bajwa and one of the contenders of the army chief’s position after the retirement of former army chief General Raheel Sharif.
Belonging to Punjab’s Chakwal district, he served as Director General Military Operations and Chief of General Staff.
He was laid to rest with full military honours in the H-8 graveyard. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, ex-Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Director-General ISI Lt General Faiz Hameed and other senior serving and retired military officers attended the funeral prayers of Ishfaq Nadeem
