Maulana Tariq Jameel says he was abused for praising Imran Khan

Renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel has revealed that he has been subject to verbal attacks and criticism for praising Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Addressing a gathering recently in Australia, he said he couldn’t explain how much criticism he had to face for his meetings with the prime minister.

"مجھے لوگ گالیاں دے رہے ہیں اور طرح طرح کے الزام لگا رہے ہیں کہ آپ عمران خان کی اچھائی بیان کر رہے ہو باقیوں کی کیوں نہیں کرتے، تو میں کہتا ہوں کہ کوئی ہے جس نے مدینہ کی ریاست کا نام لیا ہو؟"

“I have been meeting with rulers since 1992 but never received any funding for myself. Only purpose of my meetings has always been to convey Allah’s message”.

The cleric said he praised Imran Khan because he is the first ruler to express his wish to establish a Madina like state. “Has anyone said that before,” he asked.

“It is possible he might not be able to establish (Madina like state), but at least he has expressed his wish to do so,” said the Maulana.
