Islamabad: The government is receiving backlash after Pakistan’s leading newspapers on Tuesday carried advertisement about Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to Turkey.
Hundreds of people criticized the government for spending a huge amount on newspaper ads at a time when the country’s economy is on the brink and the government is desperately looking for an IMF package.
Many people questioned the prime minister’s three-day long visit to Turkey when Ankara is in no position to extend financial aid to Islamabad.
Others said a couple of tweets from the prime minister’s account would have served the purpose and there was no need to spend millions of rupees on newspaper ads.
