Twitter Community Notes leave people divide amid Israel-Gaza conflict
The Community Notes on X, formerly Twitter, have left users of the platform divided amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Hundreds of pictures and videos of Hamas attack on Israel were shared online during the past few days. Soon fake claims, AI generated picture and videos with misleading captions started flooding the platform.

Readers Added Context was attached to misleading tweets and posts in the form of Community Notes to prevent users from spreading wrong information.
Even Israeli government’s posts were shown with community notes in order to inform people about the veracity of claims made on the platform.
Similarly posts from prominent accounts targeting the Jewish state also had Community Notes attached to them.
While some people praised Elon Musk for the fact-checking feature, others criticized him for taking sides in the conflict.
According to X, “Community Notes aim to create a better informed world by empowering people on X to collaboratively add context to potentially misleading posts. Contributors can leave notes on any post and if enough contributors from different points of view rate that note as helpful, the note will be publicly shown on a post.”
