Islamabad; Lt. General Asim Saleem Bajwa on Tuesday resigned as the Chairman of the CPEC Authority. He has been replaced by Khalid Mansoor to oversee the multi-billion project as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on CPEC Affairs.
Shortly after Bajwa stepped down from his position, speculations are being made on why he had to resign. Senior journalist Tom Hussain, while commenting on the development, said “Considering the timing, I suspect the Chinese asked for this.
Seasoned journalist Najam Sethi also spoke on the matter during his new TV show on private broadcaster 24 News.
While some people criticized Bajwa, there were hundreds of people who applauded him for his services.
Who is Khalid Mansoor
He has 32 years of experience in energy and petrochemicals sectors and extensive experience of working with Chinese companies.
Khalid Mansoor has served earlier in Engro, Hub Power, Fauji Fertilizers and Exxon . While resigning as Hubco CEO on 9th June 2021, Mansoor said “I want to do social work and take stock of my life”.
