Islamabad: Axact CEO Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh, who is also the CEO of BOL TV, has been taken into custody by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Islamabad for allegedly bribing a former session judge.
The FIA had been seeking Shaikh in connection with charges of paying Additional District and Sessions Judge Pervez-ul-Qadir Memon bribe to receive a favourable verdict.
Memon had admitted to receiving Rs5 million to acquit Shaikh in the Axact fake degree case in 2017. Following his admission, Memon was terminated from service by the Islamabad High Court, which had directed the FIA to investigate the person who had offered the bribe.
Shaikh had been summoned by the FIA multiple times in relation to the case.
