Safar moon: Fawad criticizes Ruet-e-Hilal Committee decision
Islamabad:Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday criticized the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committe for its announcement that moon of Safar-the second Islamic moth, has not been sighted.
In an Urdu language tweet, the minister said the announcement was not in accordance with the lunar calendar.
Sharing a combo of pictures, he claimed that the crescent was clearly visible in Balochistan’s Gwadar and Pasni areas on Tuesday.
Taking a dig at the clerics responsible for the decision making about moon-sighting, he said they declare use of telescope unslamic without realizing that spectacles they are wearing are also made of mirrors.
Every Islamic months starts with sighting of new moon. And the decision whether or not crescent is sighted is taken by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on the basis of evidence it collects from its zonal offices.
