BBC FA cup noises originally started as joke in Brazil
London: Thousands of people were shocked to hearing sexual voices during the live coverage of the FA Cup on BBC.
The broadcaster later apologised the interruption.
Moaning was heard while Gary Lineker presented the third-round replay between Wolves and Liverpool on Tuesday.
The football pundit later posted a picture of a mobile phone he said was “taped to the back of the set”.
“We apologise to any viewers offended during the live coverage of the football this evening,” the BBC said.
It turned out that this is a practical joke well known in Brazil where it is called “the big WhatsApp moan. It is known as Gemidão do zap, an audio of a woman moaning during sex.
According to a Twitter user it first became a “national thing” in August of 2016 after a Senator had it on the microphone during the vote of the impeachment of president Dilma Rousseff.
