Geo Pakistan: Huma Amir, Abdullah Sultan’s coffee comments go viral

Media industry in Pakistan is facing a financial crisis that refuses to go away.
Powerful media Groups like Dawn, and Jang/Geo have resorted to large scale lay-offs and salary deductions as cost cutting measuers.
While hundreds of journalsists have been rendered jobless, a large number of media workers have not received their salaries for months now.
The job cuts have sparked countrywide protests, with some journalists threatening to commit suicide.
Last week, workers at Geo TV, Pakistan’s largest media group, boycotted work for a couple of days to protest non-payment of salaries.
The workers have publically called out the management for not paying the salaries for three months.
The situation has emboldened the workers so much that they have lost the fear of losing their jobs and they are speaking openly against the management at Pakistan’s top media house.
A funny exchange between hosts of Geo’s morning show, arguebly one of the most famous shows in the country, is being circulated on the social media, with people commenting on the financial crisis girping the industry.
During the show, Huma Amir Shah and Abdullah Sultan actually made fun of the coffee they are served on the sets of “Geo Pakistan”.
The male anchor grimaces after looking at the color of his coffee and says “I think (they) have run out of milk too”, drawing a laugh from the co-host.
Huma Amir Shah then sips her coffee to confirm and asks Abudllah to keep quite because “everybody is watching”.
