Matt Damon Opens Up About “Hellish” On-Screen Kiss with Scarlett Johansson
Actor Matt Damon recently shared some of the challenges he has faced in the acting profession, particularly highlighting an amusing yet “hellish” experience during a kissing scene with his co-star Scarlett Johansson.
In a fun game for LadBible alongside his co-star Emily Blunt from the upcoming film Oppenheimer, the actors were asked to agree or disagree with various statements. The topic of discussing bad breath came up, and both actors strongly agreed that they would rather offer a piece of gum than directly tell someone about their bad breath.
Amidst the conversation, Damon humorously recounted an incident from the set of the 2011 film “We Bought a Zoo” where he had to kiss Scarlett Johansson. He jokingly described it as “hell,” playfully emphasizing how challenging it was for him. He elaborated on the situation, explaining that they had already filmed a kissing scene before lunch and believed it was over. However, to their surprise, the director decided to shoot a close-up shot of the kiss later.
The funny twist was that Scarlett had indulged in an “onion sandwich” during her lunch break, and she realized this just before the close-up kiss shot. Damon recalled her exclaiming, “Oh s**t, I literally just had an onion sandwich!” Despite the situation, Damon couldn’t even smell the onion breath.
Throughout the rest of the scene, Damon playfully teased Scarlett about her onion breath, making light of the unexpected challenge they faced during that shoot.
Overall, Damon’s candid revelation offers a glimpse into the lighter side of the acting profession, where unexpected and amusing situations can arise, even during intimate scenes with co-stars.
