Turkish TV says Marvel’s ‘Avengers’ linked to US army, spreading propaganda

Ankara: Turkey’s state-run TRT channel’s social media account on Friday posted a video story raising questions about popular movies produced by Marvel Studios.
The video focused on the superheros who have been part of super hit “Avengers” series which came to an end with “Avengers: Endgame” recently and ended up becoming highest grossing movie of all time.
The TRT video feature image included DC’s “Wonder Woman” despite the fact that it was aimed at Marvel’s Avengers.
Here is what the text accompanying the video read:
“Did you know that Marvel Studios often collaborates with the US Department of Defense to produce its films and
that they are often full of both subtle and covert pro military messages and imagery. Iron Man goes from selling weapons to the US military to fighting “terrorists” himself in Afghanistan , War Machine is a US army colonel. Captain Marvel is a US Air Force pilot, The Falcon is a superhero working as a military contractor. Captain America…well, this one’s just obvious. So are these just stories or are they propaganda?

TRT is the organization behind the production of “Dirilis:Ertugrul”, a popular Turkish series which is dubbed Muslim Game of Thrones. The historical fiction series tells the story of Ertugrul, the father of the founder of the Ottoman Empire.
The series is banned in several Arab countries where authorities think it is a “propaganda” TV show. The series is immensely popular in Pakistan where it is being aired on state-owned PTV with Urdu dubbing on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
