Chinse diplomat in Pakistan receives backlash for ‘mocking’ hijab

Islamabad: A Chinse diplomat was forced to delete his tweet which many users said mocked “hijab”.

Zhang Heqing, the Cultural Attaché and Director of the Cultural Center at the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, was requested by many Pakistanis to take down his tweet which accompanied a video of a dancing Chinese woman.

While there was nothing inappropriate in the video, the tweet was criticized for its caption.

Hijab is face veil which is considered obligatory for Muslim woman in several countries.

“Off your hijab. let me see your eyes. #Xinjiang dance,” read the caption of the video written by Zhang Heqing.
