Fact-check: Imran Khan will not address UN General Assembly

Islamabad: The 77th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 77) will open on Tuesday, 13 to 27 September 2022.

Several social influencers and supporters of Imran Khan have claimed that the former prime minister will address the UN General Assembly on September 27.

The reports are incorrect as  UN General Assembly session’ high level meeting features only heads of states or their representatives.

Imran Khan will not address the session because he is not a head of state or government.

A large number of his supporters have also circulated screenshots of the UN General Assembly’s schedule which says Imran Khan will address the session, without realizing that it is dated September 2021 when Khan was the prime minister of Pakistan.
