Gharidah Farooqi receives backlash for opposing slaughter of animals on Eid-ul-Azha

Islamabad: TV anchor Gharidah Farooqi is receiving backlash for opposing the slaughter of animals on Eid ul Azha.

“Spare an animal’s lie if you can. Embrace the philosphy behind the incident and the divine message in your lie,” she said in her tweet which sparked outrage in Pakistan. She added, “This day (Eid ul Azha( is not to mark meat eating. Love animals. Let them live.”

Thousands of people took to Twitter and started a hashtag trend against the journalist. She has yet to respond to critcism.
