Maulana Tariq Jamil’s bank accounts frozen?
Islamabad: Renowned religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil has been accused of hiding Rs49 billion in his bank accounts.
Social media users belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and other parties claimed that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has seized the money by blocking the bank accounts of Tariq Jamil’s businesses.
The Maulana’s son Yousaf Jamil said the reporters regarding his father’s bank account being sealed are fake.
As soon as the rumours started swirling about the alleged FIA action, a social media campaign was launched against the cleric with his critics asking him to disclose the sources of his income.
A large number of Tariq Jamil’s pictures from his visits abroad were shared to criticize him.
As far the reports and claims regarding the government freezing Tariq Jamil’s bank accounts are concerned, no official statement has been issued by any government agency.
The reports are not more than rumours.
