PML-N’s Ahsan Iqbal arrested in corruption case

Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday arrested the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader Ahsan Iqbal in connection with an inquiry into Narowal Sports Complex corruption case.

A spokesman for the NAB confirmed the arrest of former interir minister in a statement.

He said the PMLN veteran would undergo a medical check-up before he is produced before an accountability court on Tuesday.

PMLN spokesman Marriyum Auranzeb has condemned the arrest of Iqbal, saying the Narowal Sports Complex was approved during the era of Pakistan People’s Party.

Criticizing the arrest, she asked why NAB chairman was unable to see Peshawar Metro project and Imran Khan’s foreign funding case.

She said the arrest of Ahsan Iqbal would not make any difference to the PMLN as the party is not the one which could be frightened or pressured.
