Taliban condemn French President Emmanuel Macron remarks about Islam

Islamabad: Taliban on Sunday condemned French President Emmanuel Macron for  encouraging the display of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

In a statement issued by the Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid on Twitter, the Afghan militant organization said, ” It is better for him (Macron) to study Islam carefully instead of making ignorant statements against Islam.”

The statement asked the French president to refrain from taking a position that is against world security and incites hatred and animosity between nations.

Taliban’s statement came after Macron paid tribute to a French history teacher beheaded by an Islamist radical who wanted to avenge the use of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammad in a class on freedom of expression.
