Hamid Mir condemned for supporting recognition of marriage equality in Switzerland

Islamabad: One of Pakistan’s top journalists is under fire over a tweet months after he was taken off air for speaking in favor of a fellow journalist.

Hamid Mir, the host of Geo’s Capital Talk, invited the wrath of his critics when he shared a tweet from the UN Human Rights official account on Switzerland’s referendum recognizing marriage equality and same sex marriage.

The seasoned Pakistani journalist, who rose to fame for his interview with Osama bin Laden in 90s, wrote #StandUp4HumanRights as he shared the tweet.

His name became a trend on Twitter when hundreds of people bashed him for writing and promoting something against Pakistani culture and Islam in his now deleted tweet.
