Pakistanis warned against ‘fake calls’ about registration for vaccination

Karachi: Experts have warned citizens against “fake calls” regarding the corona virus vaccine. According to cyber security expert Muhammad Assadur Rehman, criminal elements acquire personal information of citizens, such as bank accounts details, through phone calls.

He said the citizens are approached by different numbers and they are told that the call is being made from the Ministry of Health.

They are told that their details have been registered by the ministry and they have been sent a code. They are then asked to provide the code which, according to the expert, is used to deprive them of their money.

Rehman said that the code the citizens are being asked to provide is actually OTP which is used by companies to verify the identity of the owner of the bank, Jazz Cash or Easy Paisa accounts.
