Pak Army says Punjab tourists stranded in Kumrat evacuated

Swat: The army said all 22 people stranded in Kumrat have been evacuated.

The army’s media wing issued a statement after it was reported that make and female students from Punjab were marooned in Kumrat.

Earlier, in a video circulating on social media the tourists stranded in flood hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa asked the chief minister and local authorities to rescue them.

Senior journalist Rifatullah Orakzai posted a video of the tourists reportedly stranded in Dir Balaa (Upper Dir) area.

A woman tourist said that they are stranded for two days and are now running out of food and water.

“We belong to Punjab and we are sleeping on wet earth for two days now,” she said, requesting the authorities to dispatch help before it is too late.

Without sharing her name and the number of tourists stuck with her, she said that several people have fallen sick.

Caption of the video shared by Rifatullah Orakzai said the tourists are stranded in Kumrat area of Dir across Kumrat river.

Kumrat Valley is the most popular tourist spot in Khyber Paktunkhwa.
