Babar Azam Achieves Milestone as Highest Run-Scorer

Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, has consistently added to his accolades, further solidifying his reputation in the cricketing world.

His most recent accomplishment involves attaining the title of the highest run-scorer in the first 100 One-Day Internationals (ODI) innings, amassing an impressive 5142 runs in this format.

As the leading figure in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) ODI batters ranking, Babar Azam’s remarkable achievement materialized following his 27th half-century in the second match against Afghanistan held in Hambantota on August 24.

Formerly held by Hashim Amla from South Africa, the title of the highest ODI run-scorer for the initial 100 innings has now transitioned to Babar Azam, outshining Amla’s record of 4946 runs. In the hierarchy of achievements, Sir Vivian Richards secures the third position with a total of 4607 runs.

In an exceptional display of skill, Babar Azam accomplished the distinction of being the fastest batter to reach 5,000 ODI runs in May. He impressively achieved this milestone in a mere 97 innings, making him the 14th individual to reach the 5,000-run mark.

It’s noteworthy that Pakistan currently holds the second position in the ODI team rankings. During Babar Azam’s captaincy, the national team ascended to the top spot in the ODI team rankings after successfully defending a formidable target of 334 runs against New Zealand in the fourth ODI match of a recent series.

It’s important to mention that although Pakistan briefly held this position, a single loss in the five-match series caused them to relinquish the top spot.
