Antifa determined to battle Proud Boys, other far right groups in Portland
Portland: Clashes erupted between Antifa and anti-Antifa groups on Saturday in Portland and officers were arresting members of both groups as they held an opposing demonstration.
Masked members of local Rose City Antifa, known in the US as the nation’s oldest active anti-facist group have expressed resolve to battle the members of the far=right groups including the Proud Boys who intends to rally in Portland Saturday.
Meanwhile, President Trump threatened to designate the left-wing activist group as a terrorist organization just before the start of the opposing demonstration in Portland, Orgeon.
“Major consideration is being given to naming ANTIFA an ‘ORGANIZATION OF TERROR,’” Trump posted. “Portland is being watched very closely. Hopefully the Mayor will be able to properly do his job!,” the president said in a tweet.
The Antifa movement is composed of left-wing, autonomous, anti-fascist groups and individuals in the United States and they are known for their use of violent tactics.
