Flood relief efforts: Canadian Red Cross doesn’t trust Pakistani govt?

Islamabad: The Canadian Red Cross on Wednesday said funds collected for flood relief efforts would not be provided to the government of Pakistan.

Government’s critics are creating an impression that the Canadian Red Cross expressed no confidence in the Pakistani government or issued the statement on its own.

That’s not correct.

The Canadian Red Cross was actually reacting to a reply which came in response to its original post regarding flood relief efforts on September 2,2022.

The Canadian Red Cross was asked by a PTI supporter not to give funds directly to the government of Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention here that the statement issued by the Canadian Red Cross does not mean that it had no trust in the government of Pakistan.

The organization categorically said that funds are distributed through Red Cross or Red Crescent.
