Hamza Yousaf takes oath in Urdu language as he becomes Scotland’s first Muslim leader
Edinburgh: Humza Yousaf was sworn in as Scotland’s new leader on Wednesday in a ceremony.
SNP leader took the oath in the Urdu language in an event that blended formal tradition with his Pakistani heritage.
Yousaf, the first Muslim to lead a democratic western European nation, was dressed in a black shalwar kameez at Scotland’s highest court, the Court of Session in Edinburgh, as his family watched on.
Many Pakistanis were surprised to see Hamza taking the oath in the Urdu language.
