Sweden voices support for Kashmir
Stockholm: Margot Wallström, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, has said her country is closely following serious developments in Kashmir, amid a security crackdown in the Occupied territory after it was deprived of its autonomy by Indian government.
“The population of Kashmir must be included in decisions concerning its future,” she said as India blocked internet, phone and TV channels for fear of mass protests.
The protests, nonetheless, took place and Indian forces indiscriminately opened fire on demonstrators, footage acquired by BBC shows.
The Swedish minister was attacked by Indian social media users for voicing support for people of Kashmir.
India has also accused BBC of lies after videos from the Muslim majority region were aired by the broadcaster.
