Pakistan porn websites ban proves to be ineffective

Pakistan porn websites ban

With a whopping o.4 million porn websites blocked by Pakistan during the last few years, the adult content is still the most sought after commodity in the South Asian country.

For internet users the government ban on the websites is the last thing to worry about. It turns out that the adult content in Pakistan is easier to access than it ever was in the past.

In some cases the users have grown bolder with ever developing technology at their disposal. The access to the adult websites in Pakistan is as easy as it is any other country where the content is not blocked by government.

It depends on user’s knowledge of how the internet works. By knowlege we don’t mean one has to be tech savvy or a geek to watch porn websites on their devices. It is the basic knowledge which everyone seems to possess.

Other than the big websites which creates the content, messaging application Whatsapp has also played a key role in spreading lewd videos.

The downside of Whatsapp is that one can’t share the videos beyond a certain length.

The ban seems to have failed to block the users thanks to the abundance of such websites and proxies that allow people to watch the content.

Opera Mini is one of the browsers which allows users in Pakistan to visit adult websites without trouble.

Pakistanis users seem to have been emboldened to the extent that they have started producing their own content. We have recently seen some Pakistani porn videos going viral on the social media platforms.

The famous “ami ji, ami ji”–an amateur adult movie, was also shot in Pakistan only a few months back and we didn’t bait eyelid.

A study of Google searches in the month of Ramadan revealed that adult content is one of the most searched thing in Pakistan.

“The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) last year informed the Supreme Court of Pakistan that approximately 0.4 million porn websites have been blocked.

According to a report submitted to apex court by the PTA, 9,846 proxies have been blocked.

‘PTA also stated that due to technical restraints, the complete blockage of obscene material on the internet is not possible in real time, but by using alternate technical methods including proxies the cut down is possible,” according to Express Tribune newspaper.

No measures seem enough to prevent the people from watching adult websites. Maybe the authorities should let the people decide what they want to see online.
