KTN bureau chief resigns over ‘paid content’ in favor of Bahria Twon

Karachi: The bureau chief of Sindhi language news channel KTN has resigned after the private broadcaster aired ‘paid report’ in favor of Bahria Town.

According to Mubashir Zaidi, a seasoned journalist associated with Dawn News, Shakil Soomro stepped down from his position in protest against his channel’s decision to give air time to Bahria Twon.

Zaidi said that in-charge of editorial pages of Daily Kawaish- a widely circulated Sindhi language newspaper owned by KTN, also resigned in protest against the paid content in favor of Bahria Twon.

The resignations come days after Bahria Twon faced a public protest against eviction of villagers from their ancestral lands near Bahria Town.

Bahria Town, which is run by real estate tycoon Malik Riaz, has rejected all the allegations levelled against it.
