PM Imran shows displeasure over Punjab Assembly decision to raise MPAs salaries

ISLAMABAD: A day after Punjab Assembly approved an increase in salaries of lawmakers and the chief minister, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday expressed displeasure over the move which he said was not justified given the economic situation of the country.


The prime minister took to Twitter to show his dislike saying he was extremely disappointed by Punjab Assembly’s decision to raise pays and privileges of MPAs especially the chief minister at a time when the country had no resources to provide basic amenities to its our people.


The prime minister said the this kind of decision could only be justified once prosperity returns to the country.


“I am extremely disappointed by decision of Punjab Assembly to raise pays and privileges of MPAs, Ministers & esp CM. Once prosperity returns to Pakistan such a move could be justified, but now, when we do not have resources to provide basic amenities to all our people, this is untenable”.


Meanwhile, private TV channels on Thursday reported that the prime minister draws a salary that is less than those of each federal ministers and chief ministers of country’s four federating units.
