Huma Amir Shah criticizes controversial Aurat March posters
Huma Amir Shah, the host of popular morning show “Geo Pakistan”, says the controversial posters from Aurat March held on International Women’s Day in Karachi seemed to undermine an excellent movement.
The glamorous host known for being a staunch proponent of emancipation of women took to Twitter to share her opinion as the debate about the posters raged on social media with people coming up with varying viewpoints.
“Much as I’d been propagating #AuratMarch2019 I felt some posters undermined an otherwise excellent movement for gender parity,” Huma Mir Shah wrote.
She expressed the need to exercise caution and said: ” We have to be careful NOT to trivialise this effort & raise more pertinent issues~ underage marriage, inheritance rights, abuse..sadly the list goes on.
And when a male user called her out for expressing difference of opinion, the host refused to backtrack .
