Toronto Police on Tuesday confirmed that a missing 3-year old boy who was the subject of an Amber Alert has been found safe in Toronto with his mother.
The alert was issued after the boy was reported missing at 5:00 am only to be lifted at around 7: am after he was reported safe by none other than his own mother.
The grandmother, guardian of the boy, contacted police when the child was not returned to her.
The police started looking for the child at places that his mother was know to visit.
The police lifted Amber Alert when his mother informed them about her child and her safety.
Sudbury Police say they will ascertain the intent of taking the child before deciding future course of action.
Amber Alert became top Twitter trend as users complained about being upset regarding the alert.
Police were also receiving calls on 911 with people lodging their complaints about the alert.
The police said being upset regarding an Amber Alert is not an emergency matter.
According to the police, following is the criteria to issue an Amber Alert :
1-The child is under 18 years old.
2-There is a belief the child has been abducted.
3-There is information available that may help locate the child and/or abductor.
4-The alert be issued within a reasonable amount of time from the moment of the abduction.
