Tokyo: -A Japanese air force fighter jet disappeared on Tuesday with one pilot on board, defence ministry said.
Accordin to the statement, the F-35 stealth was on a training mission when it disappeared from radar over the Pacific.
“The fighter jet went missing at around 7:30 pm (1030 GMT) as it was flying some 135 kilometres (84 miles) east of Misawa, northeastern Japan”, a spokeswoman for the defence ministry said.
She said “We are still trying to search for the aircraft.”
It was not clear whether pilot managed to eject. The plane went missing 30 minutes after taking off from Misawa Air Base, a local TV channel said.
