Islamabad: Thousands of people in Karachi thronged petrol pumps after Finance Minister said petroleum prices would go up.
Many petrol pumps were closed in the metropolis after Miftah Ismail’s remarks about an increase in petrol and diesel prices at an event.
Miftah Ismail’s laughter that followed his statement about further hike in petrol prices met with an awkward silence at the event.
His statement is being used by main opposition party, the PTI, against the coalition government.
PTI leader Azhar Mashwani shared a video of the minister’s remarks and demanded the government resign.
