Atif Lahoria: Notorious gangster killed in Gujranwala shootout

Lahore: Police on Tuesday said Atif Lahoria has been killed during an exchange of fire which took place after accomplices of the notorious criminal ambushed a police convoy that was carrying him to conduct a raid in Gujranwala.

Lahoria was arrested in Hungary in 2017 and was handed to Pakistan. The police said the suspect, involved in several cases including terrorism, murder and extortion, was shot dead by the gunmen during the shootout.

At the time of Atif Lahoria’s arrest, CPO Gujranwala Sarfraz Ahmed Falaki had told a press conference that the suspect hailing from Alipur Chatha area of Gujranwala, had 13 cases of murder, robbery and extortion registered against him. He was also accused of attacking police officers in the past.

According to the CPO, the suspect was associated with the largest extortionist group in Punjab.
