Who was Farooq Qaiser? Google Doodle celebrates Uncle Sargam

Google Doodle on Tuesday celebrated Pakistani artist, writer, and actor Farooq Qaiser, who is most remembered as a beloved puppeteer of his era.

Qaiser was best known for playing Uncle Sargam on the Pakistan Television.

Google dedicated a special Doodle to the late actor on his birthday.

He died on 14 May 2021 at the age of 75.

He was known as the creator of the fictional puppet character Uncle Sargam introduced in 1976 in children’s television show Kaliyan.

Farooq was also a cartoonist, newspaper columnist and wrote for the newspaper Daily Nai Baat in Lahore and under the pen name “Meethay Karelay.”
