Deepika Padukone wins hearts with JNU visit, BJP calls for Chhapak’s boycott
New Delhi: Extremists in India are calling for boycott of Deepika Padukone’s upcoming movie Chhapak after the film star visited the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) to express solidarity with the students and teachers.
The students at the JNU have been protesting ever since the campus was stormed by a group of masked men associated with a right wing party.
The actor visited the university just two days before her movie is scheduled to release on January 10.
While nationalists were condemning Padukone for her JNU visit, majority of people praised the actress for her bold decision to show solidarity with the students and teachers.
The attack on university has further divided India under Narendra Modi who has alienated minorities with his controversial policies towards minorities in the Hindu majority nation.
