Sikorsky S-76 helicopter crash kills Kober Bryant, daughter Gianna Maria
The Sikorsky S-76 went down in Calabasas on Sunday morning, killing Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna Maria and others.
Rick Fox, former Canadian basketball player, is not among the dead
Los Angeles: Basketball legend Kobe Bryant and died late Sunday when Sikorsky S-76 helicopter he was travelling crashes in Calabasas Los Angeles on Sunday.
According to preliminary reports, his daughter Gianna Maria was also among the five people dead.
Rick Fox, a retired basketball player who was intially reported dead along with Kode, was not travelling with the American basketball giant in the helicopter.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials said there were no survivors from the morning crash on a hillside in Calabasas, west of Los Angeles.
First responders put out the flames of the crash site, the sheriff’s department said, posting a picture of a fire truck and smoke emerging from the brush in a ravine.
The crash came only hours after the 41-year-old former Los Angeles Lakers star was passed by current Lakers star LeBron James for third on the all-time NBA scoring list in a Saturday game at Philadelphia.
US President Donald Trump took to Twitter to mourn the death of the American legend.
Investigations Underway
Authorities say they launched an investigation into the Sikorsky S-76 crash.
The Sikorsky S-76 is an American medium-size commercial utility helicopter, manufactured by the Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation. The S-76 features twin turboshaft engines, four-bladed main and tail rotors and retractable landing gear.
