Pilot Abhinandan says he was mentally harassed in Pakistan custody: Indian media

Indian pilot Abhinandan has said he was mentally tortured in Pakistan, Indian news agency ANI quoted sources as saying a day after he was handed back to his country.

Citing unnamed sources, the news agency said although Abhinandan Varthaman was not physically tortured by his captors, he was subjected to considerable “mental harassment”.

Islamabad released the pilot as peace gesture amid rising tensions between the two countries after Pulwama attack.

Abhinandan’s aircraft was shot down by Pakistan on Wednesday and he was detained after succeeding in ejecting from his MiG21.

Indian media has recently been accused in its own country of  spreading lies and propaganda. Before being released, Abhinandan Varthaman had praised the Pakistan Army and also accused Indian media of exaggerating things.
