Ronaldo surpasses Messi on Instagram tribute to Pele

Brazilian football icon Pele, widely regarded as the greatest player of all time has died at the age of 82, his family said Thursday.

“Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace,” daughter Kely Nascimento wrote on Instagram.

World Cup-winning captain Lionel Messi led the rest of football-crazy Argentina in bidding Brazilian hero Pele farewell on social media Thursday, posting photos of himself and “The King” taken in happier times.

“Rest in peace, Pele,” Messi wrote on Instagram.

Cristiano Ronaldo said Pele ‘source of inspiration for so many millions’.

More than 20 million people reacted to Ronaldo’s post on Pele’s death while a little over 17 million people liked Messi’s tribute to the legend.
