Google Doodle recently celebrated 57th birthday of late Steve Irwin, a wildlife conservationist and TV personality, but People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) didn’t like it one bit.
PETA, an animal right organization, said the Google Doodle “sends a dangerous, fawning message” because Irwin “was killed harassing a ray”.
The “Crocodile Hunter” host died in 2006 during an expedition due to Stingray injury.
In a string of tweets, PETA did go so far as to imply Irwin didn’t act like a “real wildlife expert”.
The users, however, hit back at PETA and praised Steve Irwin for saving the lives of countless animals.
Born in Australia, the conservationist dedicated his life to the preservation of wildlife on Feb 22, 1962, and was given large python for his sixth birthday by Bob Irwin who raised him..
