ISLAMABAD: Price of petrol in Pakistan is likely to be increased after the Economic Coordination Committee, a top decision making body of the federal cabinet approved a proposal moved by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority.

The ECC has approved an increase of Rs9 per litre in the price of petrol and Rs5 in price of diesel. If approved by the prime minister the new price of petrol would jump to Rs108 per litre.

The OGRA had previously proposed a 14 percent increase in petrol price but the prime minister chose to seek ECC review before giving the approval.
