Czech Republic model given eight-year jail term in Pakistan to challenge conviction
LAHORE: A Pakistani court on Wednesday sentenced a Czech Republic model to eight years and eight months in jail on the charges of drug trafficking.
The 22-year old Tereza Hluskova was arrested in January last year at the Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport after custom officials recovered eight kilogram heroin from her posession.
She was taken into custody from the airport when she was flying to Ireland via Dubai.
Before being convicted in Lahore’s session court, she expressed the hope that judge would find her innocent and acquit her in the case.
But she burst into tears when the judge decided to jail her for over eight years.
Sardar Asghar, the cousnle for Tereza, said the model will challenge the sentence in the high court.
