‘Fast & Furious 9’ to release in Pakistani cinemas?

Karachi: Fans are eagerly waiting for the release of “Fast & Furious 9”, the latest installment in one of the largest film franchises.

The film featuring Vin Diesel, John Cena and others released in the United States and elsewhere in May but Pakistani fans are still wondering whether they will get an opportunity to watch the movie on the big screen.

While the government has ordered to reopen school and other educational institutions after coronavirus cases dropped in the country, cinemas across Pakistan are still closed as the vaccination drive continues.

In early June, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) might announce reopening of cinemas from June 30 considering the improvement in the Covid-19 positivity ratio in the country.

“Have spoken to the NCOC and Asad Umar has promised that cinemas will be reopened by June 30. However, a final decision will be taken by the NCOC,” he clarified.

The film was due to release in July but the situation worsened as the country was hit with the fourth wave of the coronavirus. The release of “Fast & Furious 9” has been delayed indefinitely and it remains unclear whether the film will be released in theaters when the cinemas opened.
