Islamabad: A new biscuit ad featuring Mehwish Hayat has sparked anger online, with a top journalist demanding the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to ban the ad.
Calls for beaning the ad became top Twitter trend after users protested against what they called obscenity.
Investigative journalist Ansar Abbas was prominent among those who objected to the content of the ad.
“Vulgar dances are being performed on TV to sell biscuits. Is there any any organization that would take notice of it?Will Imran Khan take any notice on the matter? Wasn’t Pakistan built in the name of Islam,” Ansar Abbasi wrote in Urdu while tagging the media watch dog PEMRA and the prime minister.
