Poet Sarfraz Shahid dies in Islamabad

Pakistani poet Sarfraz Shahid died after a prolonged illness in Islamabad on Sunday.

The funeral of the humourous poet was held at the H-8 graveyard.

Sarfraz Shahid was born in Ghakhar Mandi in Gujranwala, and had served at the Pakistan Meteorological Department for 30 years before he retired as a director.

Sarfaraz Shahid is a recipient of numerous awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award, Amir Khusro Award and Pride of Performance in recognition of his extraordinary services in the field of literature.
