Turkish actress Hazal Kaya rejoices over Erdogan party defeat in Istanbul election

Turkish TV star Hazal Kaya is a staunch supporter of secularism and she has never shied away from expressing her views on local politics.

Although she doesn’t write much about her political views, she occasionally shares pictures of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and in favour of secularists.

The actress couldn’t hide her feeling when Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s AKP party was defeated in Istanbul’s mayoral election re-run on Sunday.

Binali Yildrim, the candidate fielded by Erdogan, was beaten again– this time with heavy margin– by Ekrem Imamoglu, a candidate of secularist Republican People’s Party, months after the ruling party challenged the results of March election which he had won by 13000 votes.

This time the margin was more 775,000.

Rejoicing over the victory of secularists, Hazal Kaya posted a picture of Ekrem Imamoglu to her Instagram stories and wrote in Turkish language “Her sey cok guzel oldu Ekrem Abi (Everything was very nice Ekrem Abi).

In his victory speech, Imamoglu said he was ready to work in harmony with President Erdogan. He also conveyed his request for meeting with the Turkish leader.
