Anchor Imran Riaz Khan arrested
Islamabad: Anchor and YouTuber Imran Riaz khan has been arrested by Punjab Police from Islamabad toll plaza, lawyer Mian Ali Ishfaq said.
Punjab Law Minister Malik Ahmad Khan has confirmed Imran Riaz Khan’s arrest. He said the the YouTuber was arrested by Punjab police in district Attock, where a case was registered against him.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan has condemned Imran Riaz’s arrest in Twitter statement.
He said, “I strongly condemn the arbitrary arrest of Imran Riaz Khan by Punjab police tonight.
Khan added, “The country is descending into fascism just to make our nation accept an Imported Government comprising of mega crooks. It is time for everyone, especially the media, to unite and stand up against this fascism.”
Khan’s aide Asad Umar said PTI workers would protest against Khan’s arrest out press club’s on Wednesday.
Islamabad High Court Chief Justice is due to hear an application filed by Riaz Khan’s lawyers in the morning.
Meanwhile, an FIR lodged was against Imran Riaz Khan in Attock before he was taken into custody. The complainant said he was upset was over Khan’s “insulting” remarks against the military.
The anchor also recorded a video after he was intercepted by the police before his arrest.
Journalists are protesting against Imran Riaz Khan’s arrest.
