ARY News gets relief from Sindh High Court after license cancellation

Karachi: The Sindh High Court on Saturday temporarily suspended the interior ministry’s notification cancelling ARY News license.

Appearing on behalf of the PEMRA, Advocate Shamsul Islam said the TV channel was spreading hatred. He prayed the court to give the case three days before deciding the matter.

He said that the ministry’s notification also gave reason for cancelling ARY’s license.

The lawyer said that it was a sensitive matter and he would produce complete details before the court.

ARY’s lawyer told the court that the broadcaster was operating as per regulations and it was not for the first time that it had fallen victim to propaganda.

He said that a contempt of court application would be moved if ARY News transmission was not restored after the Sindh High Court orders.

The hearing was adjourned till August 17.
