Asad Umar quits cabinet

Islamabad: Finance Minister Asad Umar on Thursday announced to quit the cabinet, days after government rejected reports regarding the impending resignation of the economic tsar as rumors.

“As part of a cabinet reshuffle PM desired that I take the energy minister portfolio instead of finance. However, I have obtained his consent to not take any cabinet position. I strongly believe @ImranKhanPTI is the best hope for Pakistan and inshallah will make a naya pakistan,” said the minister on Twitter.

Anchor Shehzad Iqbal criticized the government for the decision saying that the person who was presented as Finance Minister for years has not been given enough time to correct the economy.

Geo News reported that Umar has already handed over his resignation as Finance Minister to the premier.
